A commercial feature, a documentary and live community event, and a museum exhibit
High Gravity: A Denali Trip Report
In June of 2023, Sachi summited Denali unguided in 10 days, an expedition that often takes 25 or 30 days to complete. In May of 2024, Sachi created High Gravity: A Denali Trip report, a 45-minute video that featured a live voiceover by Sachi for an audience in San Diego. Sponsored by the local American Alpine Club and Milestone Running to make the event free and accessible to the community. Following the Denali summit, Sachi was also featured in an article by The Wilderness Society.
Museum Video, Permanently on Exhibit
Permanantly on exhibit in the California History Museum's (Sacramento, CA) Uprooted!, which focuses on the mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. This video, produced, filmed, and edited by Sachi Koide and Kinu Koide, explores the diversity of identity within the young JA community and how our shared history drives us to help shape a better future for all Americans and immigrants. Everyone who touched the project was Japanese American or AAPI. Everyone got financially compensated for their time, work and emotional labor, thanks to the Civil Liberties Grant of the California State Library organization. We're really proud to be able to say that about this film.
